Product Info

  • Mount high and wide
Install the rod 4–8 inches above the window frame (or just below the ceiling) to create the illusion of taller ceilings. Extend 6–12 inches beyond each side of the window so curtains can fully stack and allow maximum light.
  • Choose the right width
Your rod should extend at least 8–12 inches beyond the window width. For a fuller look, curtains should measure 2–2.5x the window width.
  • Mind the ceiling height
In rooms with lower ceilings, mounting closer to the ceiling visually elongates the space.
  • Always anchor properly
Use wall anchors if you’re not mounting into studs. For heavier fabrics (velvet, lined drapery), install wall posts directly into studs whenever possible.
  • Pre-drill holes
Brass screws can sheer when under high torque. This can be prevented by pre-drilling your blockingwith the appropriate size drill bit. Using a steel screw of the same drive size and thread count can also help prepare the screw hole without making the hole too large for secure mounting.
  • Add a center support (when needed)
For rods longer than 35–48 inches, a center bracket prevents sagging and protects both the rod and your walls.

For products made from live brass it is important that you wear gloves while installing the unit as the oils on your hands will leave markings on the brass. More information on product care can be found on our Product Care page.

The Drapery Rod uses 1", 5/8", and 3/8" diameter tube. You can purchase a sample here.
